Lola: (Laughs) oh my yes, I was quite the scandal. Considering my infamous antics with the King Ludwig of Bavaria. Funny story, lovely man, lots of money, really was my kind of guy. Well you see, I wanted to perform in a theatre in Bavaria, but the daft bastards wouldn’t let me! They said something about my dancing being “morally corruptive and slander to the nation itself” (laughs) but I knew something they didn’t, whatever Lola wants, Lola gets. I simply just marched my case down to the Kings palace and-

Cleaner: Laundry collection!

Lola goes in to a panic and immediately begins applying make-up)

Cleaner:… Laundry collection!

Lola: yes yes! Just a minute please!

Cleaner: LAUNDRY COLLECTION!-

Lola: YES! I AM QUITE AWARE OF YOUR DUTIES AS THE LAUNDRY COLLECTOR! NOW TAKE IT AND GO, ILL BE BACK SOON AND I EXPECT TO SEE YOU GONE!(walks down the hallway and passes a window) Why, I look fantastic, bedazzling almost. I don’t look a day over… 32… I look beautiful. Well, there is the slight imperfections here and there.. my hair line may be receding.. and I may be losing a light weight..

Doctor: wait, wait, oh here she comes! Cmon mrs.gilbert, just one more push! Cmon and there we go! NURSE! Congratulations on your new baby girl mr and mrs. Gilbert. May she grow to be a healthy potato eating irish woman!

MG: ohhh shes beautiful she is

MRG: a true princess, she needs a princess name. Eliza, after my mother. Welcome to the world eliza gilbert.

MG:no, I don’t like it! I want to name her.. Hetty-Ethel! Yes yes! Hetty-Ethel is a much nicer name! oh please can we name her Hetty-ethel! Can we can we?

MRG: There is no way under the eyes of jesus Christ our lord and saviour, I am naming any daughter of mine Hetty-Ethel.

MG: oh why not! What kind of name is eliza! It’s a terrible name! its rght bollocks!

MRG: are you daft woman? What is the matter with you?

MG: whats the matter with you? Havnt even eaten a fork full of your dinner! You love my spud mud!

MRG: oh for the last time, you balmy brat, its not called spud mud, its MASH POTATO!!! (walks off )

MRG: eliza, go fetch your mother. You two are the most important women in my life, and you need to hear this together. (SIGH) the general has moved us to an army base in India. We leave on Friday.

MRG: what! Windia? Where in the name of birgandys beard is windia? I don’t like windy places, they are much to windy, im not going!

Lola: Im not going! Im not going to school! And you cant make me! I hated it in London, and I hate it here to! Im sick of being stuck sitting next to a bunch of French frogs! Daddy wouldn’t make me go to school! Daddy would never make me go! But you don’t even remember daddy! And neither does he!

MG: he.. passed on sweety. Daddy has gone ti heaven now?

Lola: But why mummy, why?

MG: Because a very angry man wanted to hurt daddy with a gun when he was playing a game called War. Everythings going to be okay.. Meet your new daddy!

Lola: Mummy, that’s not daddy! That’s daddys best friend in the world! I don’t want a new daddy, I want my old daddy! Tell new daddy to leave! Tell him to leave!

King Ludwig: Leave my country, Lola Montez, and never return. If the words hit my ears that you are back, ill break your careers like you broke my heart.

Lola: Oh dear, im so sorry King Ludwig.. I never meant to hurt you… Maybe one day, we could grow as friends.

Girl: well I heard that she engineered the entire situation with one of the tsars soldiers!

Girl 2: Well I heard Lola Montez plotted it with the tsar and it’s a big conspiracy!

Girl: Abby, why would the Tsar of Russia plot his own injury?

Girl 2: Its just what I heard…

Lola: I do have talent mother! You will see! Oh yes, you will see…

Lola: see, im beautiful… yes.. beautiful. Whats this?The Sydney Morning Herald, from a few months ago.. And there is an article on myself Why its about my performance! And quied “Lola Montez’ dance was the most libertinish and indelicate performance that could be given, on a public stage” well, I still got there money, whatever Lola wants, Lola gets.

my costume for lola is a tad provocative, well its not that bad, im going to be wearing black stockings underneath it, so its okay. i believe its relevant and can be worked with throughout my solo, and thats all that counts.

prop

im not exactly sure how big my prop has to be, because in some of my scenes a small frame is easier to use, but it is less effective in my solo, where as a large frame is harder to use, but is more effective.

thank god!! from all my stupid editing my solo is nearly finished!! im going to add in one more short scene to finish it off, and then time it with my prop and costume and see how i go! finalllyyy!

Characters and modern?

so i cut out the modern scene of my solo because it clearly wasnt relevant to the time period which my solo is set in, so even though its non naturalistic, it still wouldnt be relevant. Its annoying because i spent about 3 days researching but whatever then.

prop and costume

ive decided on my costume. Im in a bit of a pickle about my prop though. Lola’s signature was her whip (so i was thinking a black skipping rope), but what else could i use that for in my solo? so, taking close notice of the year 12 solos, michelle matta’s prop- a frame- perfect for my solo, but i wouldnt want it to come across astgough i was stealing her idea, because im not. Ive practised afair bot with the photo frame and it works really well with my solo. And sorry for the late blogging peoples, i have been unable to leave my bed for the past 3 days(N)

(Lola is in her small room on the ship, talking to herself in a small pocket mirror)

Lola: Why yes, I was quite scandal. Well, considering my mischevious antics, including that with King Ludwig. Funny story that. Lovely man, lots ofmoney, really was my kind of guy. You see, i wanted to perform in a theatre in Bavaria, but the daft bastards wouldnt let me. Apparently my dance caused “uproar and havoc as it was morally corrupt and a disgrace to the nation itself”, so i just- (little old lady at Lola’s door)

Little old Lady:(knocks 3 times) housekeeping!

(Lola fixes herself up and puts away her mirror)

Little old Lady: (knocks again) Housekeeping!

Lola: Alright, i hear, im coming!

Little old Lady: (bangs on door) HOUSEKEEPING!

Lola: (Opens door rudely) Yes,I understand, your here for HOUSEKEEPING!

(Lola storms out of her room and walks past a window and begins to notice her flaws. She begins touching her skin and hair, as if to try and fix them)

Lola:(said in nervous,depressing voice) well,it could beworse. Timedoes make us age, Lola, just remeber that. I dont look a day over.. 39. I look elegant… I look graceful.. I look.. I look…beautiful.I dont look that bad.

Non-Naturalism

from observing the year 12 solos, i noticed that they have used non-naturalistic elements really well. Ive added a few more non-naturalistic techniques into my solo, but im not quite sure if it works…i shall let the class decide when i perform!

Im not having any more trouble with much of my solo, its really just the timing of the scenes. Ive narrowed down my characters to about 4, but there ive done so much sripting i have about 6 pages worth of scripting already, but thats edited aswell, and i re-wrote 2 scenes, and i STILL have to chop them back down!!!!! so damn frustrating!!!!
